This is a fantastic example of stepped fluorite (dodecahedron modification) crystals from La Viesca Quarry. Backlighting reveals an intense blue color with several phantoms showing different blue and violet hues. Really shocking color when backlighted. Juan collected this one from the old workings of La Viesca Mine (the quarry, not the later underground workings). It came out from what he called “Coquera de la Ranita” which translated into English would be “Pocket of the Small Frog”. This was a special pocket for Juan; someday he will explain the pocket in the blog. Let’s say that it was a really exciting pocket which yielded not many specimens, but a few very good ones.
